Q1: Why can’t the same size square and round TFT LCD Shape be used interchangeably?

Even if the diagonal size is the same (e.g., 1.54 inches), the square and round TFT LCD Shape cannot be used interchangeably, the core reason is the huge difference in the effective display area (AA area) and driver matching:

AA area mismatch: The AA area of a 1.54-inch square TFT LCD is about 27.72mm × 27.72mm, while the AA area of a 1.54-inch round TFT LCD is within a circle with a diameter of about 39mm (the actual value is subject to the factory design). If the structural opening is circular and a square screen is installed, or the opening is square and a round screen is installed, the display content will be seriously blocked.
  2. Driver IC mismatch: The initialization code of the driver IC of the two TFT LCD Shapes is different; the round screen needs special mapping in the display RAM to hide the invalid pixels at the four corners, and the square screen does not have this driving logic.
