Product Introduction and Core Technical Specifications of HD IPS LCD
This is a product model TFT-H042A01WXIGHKN30, a 4.2-inch TFT LCD module. Its core highlight is the extreme wide-temperature and high-brightness characteristics, featuring a super high brightness of up to 1200 cd/m², ensuring clear visibility even under strong outdoor sunlight. It also supports an ultra-wide operating and storage temperature range of -30°C to +85°C, easily coping with extreme and harsh physical environments.
This HD IPS LCD module achieves a resolution of 1280×960 pixels, combined with NTSC 70% wide color gamut and normally black technology, providing full viewing angles (U85/D85/R85/L85) with fine image quality and vivid color reproduction. In terms of hardware configuration, it integrates a GH7005 driver IC and adopts a lightweight and thin structural design (maximum thickness 1.80mm) with MIPI-DSI interface modes, offering high system integration flexibility and stability.

Core Highlights of HD IPS LCD
As a high-end HD IPS LCD targeting industrial and outdoor scenarios, the core competitive advantages of this module are its “survivability” and “performance capability”.
Extreme wide-temperature structure, unafraid of -30°C to +85°C harsh conditions
This product specifically uses wide-temperature liquid crystal materials and high-temperature resistant backlight polarizer designs. Both its operating temperature and storage temperature reach -30°C to +85°C. Whether deployed in the severe cold of winter outdoors or in enclosed, high-heat industrial cabinets and vehicles under sun exposure, this module maintains stable and smooth image quality output. It is a true “all-weather” industrial-grade screen.
1200 nits ultra-high brightness, breaking the outdoor bright light “black screen” curse
This HD IPS LCD module features a revolutionary upgrade in backlight design. Under constant current test conditions, its LCM brightness reaches 1200 ± 200 cd/m².
4:3 aspect ratio design, filling the market gap between 3.5″ and 5.7″ displays
HD IPS LCD Pin Definition and Detailed Pin Assignment
To ensure high-speed signal transmission quality and electromagnetic interference (EMI) resistance, this module is equipped with the industry-recognized high-speed, low-impedance I-PEX 20455-030E (or equivalent) 30-pin connector. The following is a detailed pin function and signal configuration table:

Interface Mode and Wiring Instructions
Interface Design: MIPI-DSI
This HD IPS LCD module offers high platform adaptability. The bottom PCB has reserved interface configuration resistors (such as component arrays R1 to R21, C1 to C21). Through flexible hardware jumpers or factory process configuration, this module supports MIPI-DSI interface.
MIPI-DSI mode: Suitable for modern consumer-grade or lightweight embedded SoCs. It supports 2-Lane or 4-Lane signal configurations, enabling ultra-high bandwidth transmission of 1280×960 video data with very low power consumption and low EMI.
HD IPS LCD Backlight Drive System
To achieve an extreme brightness of 1200 nits within a small form factor, this module is equipped with a high-density series-parallel LED light matrix:
- Backlight driving forward voltage (Vf): 16.0 ± 1.5 V
- Rated driving current (If): 120 mA
HD IPS LCD Typical Product Application Scenarios
Thanks to its high pixel density, wide-temperature operating capability, and sunlight readability, this 4.2-inch HD IPS LCD is widely used in the following vertical industries and high-precision equipment:
- Automotive control instruments and special vehicle displays: Motorcycle LCD instrument panels, agricultural machinery control terminals, engineering excavator displays, multifunctional touch auxiliary screens for new energy vehicles. Its -30°C to +85°C temperature range fully passes automotive environmental test standards.
- High-end industrial HMI and automation cabinets: Precision instruments in complex industrial environments, high-precision CNC machine tool operation panels, smart grid monitoring equipment. Full-viewing-angle IPS ensures that factory operators can accurately read status data from any position.
- Outdoor smart self-service terminals: Outdoor smart charging pile displays, smart bus stop handheld testers, outdoor vending machines, courier locker main interactive screens. The 1200 nits ultra-high brightness makes it unafraid of direct outdoor sunlight.
- Medical monitoring and high-end diagnostic equipment: Portable ultrasound diagnostic devices, high-end blood analyzer displays, outdoor search and rescue drone ground control stations. The 1280×960 ultra-high-definition pixel count accurately renders fine physical details in medical and geographic charts.
Technical FAQ for HD IPS LCD
Q1: If my system power supply is only 5V or 12V, how do I meet the backlight and drive voltage requirements of this module?
A1: You need to design the corresponding power conversion circuits on your main control board:
For the digital and analog power supply of the LCD module, use two efficient DC-DC buck converters or low-dropout regulators (LDOs) to convert the 5V/12V input down to stable VCI = 3.3V (maximum tolerance not exceeding ±0.3V) and IOVCC = 1.8V or 3.3V respectively.
For the backlight system, since its rated voltage is as high as 16.0±1.5V, you must use a DC-DC boost LED driver with constant current feedback control. This chip boosts the mainboard’s 5V or 12V to about 16V and locks the output current to 120mA through an internal sensing resistor. At the same time, you can connect a PWM signal from your main MCU to the EN/DIM pin of this boost chip to achieve dynamic stepless adjustment of screen brightness (for example, automatically reducing from 1200 nits to 200 nits at night to prevent glare).
Q2: What should be noted regarding the initialization sequence (Init Code) of the GH7005 driver IC in MIPI mode?
A2: During software porting or writing Linux drivers (Device Tree & Driver), the GH7005 in normally black mode requires precise configuration of display timings (Horizontal/Vertical Back Porch, Front Porch, Sync Width). For this module with 1280×960 high resolution, ensure that the D-PHY data rate is correctly calculated to provide sufficient bandwidth for 4-Lane mode. Additionally, during power-on initialization, you must first stabilize the input VCI and IOVCC, then pull high the RESX reset pin, and then send the initialization sequence through the MIPI DCS command set.
