Description

4.3-inch Quad SPI TFT Display High-Brightness with Wide Temperature for Sunlight Readability

TFT-H043A28 Series features a resolution of 480 (RGB) (H) × 272 (V) pixels, with an active display area of 95.04 (H) × 53.86 (V) mm. The module without a touchscreen has outer dimensions of 105.46 (H) × 67.16 (V) × 2.80 (D) mm, while the version with a capacitive touchscreen measures 105.46 (H) × 67.16 (V) × 4.60 (D) mm. The viewing direction is U85/D85/R85/L85. The interface supports SPI, QSPI, MCU 8Bit (default). The TFT driver chip model is NV3041, and the capacitive touchscreen driver chip is GT911. Two options are available: without touch or with capacitive touchscreen.

This 4.3-inch Quad SPI TFT Display adopts an advanced Normally Black full-view IPS LCD panel. It delivers excellent visual performance with an 85-degree viewing angle in all four directions (U85/D85/R85/L85), fully resolving the color distortion and grayscale inversion issues common to traditional TN screens. With a static contrast ratio of up to 1000:1 and a high color gamut of 50% NTSC, it presents stunning, vivid, and well-layered visuals for delicate UI industrial icons or complex dynamic data curves.

Dual-Core High-Performance Driver Architecture

As a highly integrated smart display core, the module incorporates two high-performance chips:

  • TFT Driver Chip (NV3041): Responsible for efficient image data decoding and high-frequency LCD driving. The chip natively supports multiple high-speed hardware interfaces, including Quad SPI (QSPI) , Dual SPI, Standard SPI, and 8-bit MCU.
  • Capacitive Touchscreen (CTP) Driver Chip (GT911): For the high-end version with touch (TFT+CTP total thickness of 4.60 mm), the module integrates the industry-proven Goodix GT911 capacitive touch controller. It supports multi-touch and anti-noise algorithms, with a surface hardness of 6H pencil hardness and light transmittance above 80%, providing sensitive, accurate, and wear-resistant touch interaction.

Detailed 22-Pin Definitions

The 4.3-inch Quad SPI TFT Display’s interface balances the stability of traditional parallel buses with the efficiency of modern serial buses, dividing into three functional zones.

System Block Diagram and Reference Circuit Design

In actual product hardware development, a typical peripheral circuit design for the TFT-H043A28 module should include: VCI power filtering system, RESX reset protection circuit, CTP touch I²C pull-up bus, and a high-efficiency backlight constant current drive circuit.

Key Product Highlights of the 4.3-inch Quad SPI TFT Display

High-Speed Quad SPI Serial Interface

Traditional 480×272 resolution screens typically require 16-bit or 24-bit RGB parallel buses, occupying more than 20 MCU I/O pins. The TFT-H043A28 innovatively introduces the Quad SPI (QSPI) interface, requiring only 4 data lines and 2 control lines to achieve high-speed transmission. This saves valuable pin resources while significantly reducing PCB routing area and manufacturing costs.

Sunlight-Readable Ultra-High Brightness (Up to 1000 cd/m²)

In outdoor or high-ambient-light environments, ordinary LCD screens often suffer from severe reflections, making content illegible. With the backlight fully on, the non-touch version of this module can output an industry-leading 1000 cd/m². Even with a capacitive touchscreen, the total output brightness reaches 800 cd/m², ensuring excellent readability under direct sunlight.

Wide-Temperature Industrial-Grade Reliability

The LCD module has passed rigorous industrial-grade reliability life tests: stable operation from -30°C to +80°C, and safe storage from -30°C to +85°C. It has also passed packaging impact tests, 120-hour high-temperature and high-humidity operation tests (+60°C, 90% RH), and ESD tests up to ±4KV contact / ±8KV air discharge, making it ideal for industrial field equipment.

Typical Application Scenarios

  • High-End Industrial HMI & Smart Instruments: Inverter control panels, CNC machine parameter monitors, factory power monitoring devices. Thanks to the full-view IPS technology and -30°C to +80°C operating range, operators can accurately read machine status from any angle.
  • Smart Home & IoT Control Hubs: Embedded smart touch wall switches, central air conditioning and fresh air system panels, high-end smart kitchen appliance displays. The Quad SPI interface perfectly adapts to mainstream low-cost IoT MCUs such as STM32 and ESP32-S3.
  • EV Charging Piles & Portable Outdoor Devices: DC fast charging station user interfaces, portable outdoor power station displays. The 1000 cd/m² ultra-high brightness solves the problem of screen illegibility under direct sunlight.
  • Portable Medical Monitoring Instruments: Handheld multi-parameter monitors, blood oxygen and blood pressure test terminals, laboratory analyzers. The multi-touch capacitive layer supports precise and sensitive interaction even when medical personnel wear gloves.

Technical Q&A of the 4.3-inch Quad SPI TFT Display

Q1: Why is the Quad SPI interface strongly recommended for the TFT-H043A28 module? What are its core advantages over the traditional 8-bit parallel MCU interface?

A1: The core advantages lie in the extreme reduction of pin count and PCB routing complexity.

Traditional parallel MCU interfaces require many data and control lines, directly limiting MCU selection. In contrast, the Quad SPI (QSPI) interface simplifies the data bus to just 4 lines (QSPI-D0 to QSPI-D3). Together with a clock line and chip select line, only 6 lines are needed to complete full-color image data transmission. This not only frees up a large number of MCU I/Os for sensors or communication modules but also makes PCB routing extremely easy, significantly reducing overall hardware development and procurement costs.

Q2: When running this LCD at extremely low temperatures (e.g., -30°C outdoors) or high temperatures (e.g., +80°C inside an industrial cabinet), what physical phenomena may occur? Do these phenomena indicate product damage?

A2: The operating guidelines clearly define these as normal physical properties of liquid crystal materials, not module damage or failure.

In extremely cold environments below the operating temperature (e.g., near -30°C): The molecular viscosity of the liquid crystal material increases, causing a significant delay in the electro-optical response time. The macroscopic effect is noticeable motion blur or ghosting during screen transitions.

In extremely hot conditions near +80°C: As the ambient temperature approaches the liquid crystal material’s critical point, the molecules may temporarily change their alignment state, causing the LCM panel to potentially appear black.

Once the external operating temperature returns to the module’s recommended normal range, the liquid crystal molecules instantly restore their original physical activity, and the screen returns to normal operation without permanent damage to its lifespan or display performance.
